Ingredients

Rice and dal of your choice. You can add as many varieties of vegetables as you can, or you can add potato, onion, tomato, carrots, ghee for tadka.

Process

It is better to prepare this Indian Food for Kids in a pressure cooker because it retains all the nutrients and prepares quickly.

  • First, put the cooker on the flame. Let it warm.
  • Put one tablespoon of ghee in the cooker.
  • Add bay leaf and cinnamon for flavor (it’s optional, you can skip this).
  • Then add chopped onion (one medium) and sauté it till the onions turn transparent.
  • Then add tomatoes and sauté it for 2 minutes.
  • Next, add all the chopped or cut into small pieces of all vegetables. Sauté it for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add soaked rice and dal (wash and soak rice and dal for 5 minutes) to the sautéed vegetables.
  • Stir it properly, then add salt to taste and a little bit of curry powder.
  • If you want, cook it well for 5 minutes by constant stirring.
  • Then pour water in the cooker (if you took half cup rice and a half cup of dal, then add two cups of water, or you can add by your guess power)
  • Then close the cooker lid and allow for 2-3 whistles.
  • Let it cool. Serve it with raita, chutney, or pickle.

Process

  • Take 3-4 slices of bread.
  • Cut its sides and remove.
  • Heat the pan on the flame.
  • Add one tablespoon ghee to the pan. Let it warm.
  • Make the bread slices into pieces roughly by hand and add to the pan.
  • Fry it in slow flame for 1-2 minutes.
  • Then add 1 cup milk and a quarter cup water to that.
  • Allow to boil and stir it constantly.
  • When it started thickening, add sugar, stir it till it becomes thick.
  • Add cashew if you want.
  • Then turn off the flame. It’s really soft and tasty.
